Luke Nisbet

1 - Luke Nisbet: Winner of 2017 ADreach Ocean Heroes with double back to back wins. He is South Africa surf ironman champion and is one of the best surf swimmers in the world. He has competed in the World Nutri Grain Ironman Series in Australia. He is a champion sportsman with a winning attitude. 

Connor Botha

2 - Connor Botha: He is the young from Durban with huge potential. Current ranked 2nd he is climbing the Ocean Heroes ladder to be number 1. He best leg is the swim leg, followed by board then ski. 

Malec Odendaal

3 - Malec Odendaal: 2nd in SA Champs in board race, making it through to semifinals for board ski and irons at world champs this year, top 8 in irons for the last 2 years at senior level

Gene Prato

4 - Gene Prato: His strength is surf ski paddling. His forte is his endurance which greatly assists him in on the board and swim leg. Currently ranked 4th he is making huge strides to covert to an Ocean Heroes champion. 

Matt Maroun

5 - Matt Maroun: This athlete has a determined attitude and is always hungry to win. A rising star in the junior division. And 11th in World Championships in the board race. 

Sanele Nxumalo

6 - Sanele Nxumalo: 3x lifegurd endurance champion (800m swim 2km beach run 800m) Surf swim finalist at rescue 2016.(Netherlands); Four elements 5km surf swim 2015 2nd male ; 2016 3rdmale; 2017 2nd male ; 2016 annual Miway surf winner 1,9km; Multiple surf swim winner kzn lifesaving series; Multe swimathlone series winner (swim run)

Wize Mvuba

7 - Wize Mvuba: A local lifeguard from Durban, who has uses his strength and surf skills to his advantage. This Ocean Hero has made a name for himself by achieving some great results over the years. 

Travis Misdorp

8 - Travis Misdrop: One of the very few athletes whom has raced every Ocean Heroes race since 2014. The young gun from Durban achieved the finals at Worlds Championships in 2014. He strength is his board leg, and could be a contender for top stop when he gets his ski leg up to par. 

Keaton Riddle

9 - Keaton Riddle: One of the best board paddlers in the Ocean Heroes. He has the potential to be a top 5 given his swim leg improves. The man from Durban is hungry to climb the ladder will be ready for the next series. 

Barry Lewin

10 - Barry Lewin: He is new to Ocean Heroes and experienced how tough the event is in 2017. His forte is the surf ski leg, however to improve and achieve a top 5 he will need to swim and run more. 

Jasper Gaylard

11  - Jasper Gaylard: He competed in his first Ocean Heroes race in 2017 and was just outside the top 10. This competitor has shown he has the skills and mindset to compete against the best. We look forward to seeing what he can do in 2018. 

Thando Thusi

12 - Thando Thusi: He has been a fierce competitor whom always has a smile on his face. He has great skills and is capable of rising into the top ten given an improvement in overall fitness. Great things to come for this man. 

Mthembeni Mkhize

13 - Mthembeni Mkhize: A professional lifeguard from Umhlanga Main beach and works for the ADreach Group. He is great competitor with a love for the Ocean, especially surf ski paddling. He has the potential to enter the top ten with more tailored training. 

Tholani Mkhize

14 - Tholani Mkhize: He is a professional lifeguard from Umhlanga Main beach whom enjoys competing against a world class field. With some adjustments to his training we hope to see him in the top 10. 

Mweli Brown

15 - Mweli Brown: He shows grow promise and potential to become a great athlete. With more fitness and power he will start showing the other Ocean Heroes he has what it takes to be a contender. 

Siseko Ntondini

16 - Siseko Ntondini: The star of the Beyond the River movie. This Dusi champion have tested his skills in a new environment, away from the river, and into the wild ocean. It is great to see the Ocean Heroes attracting some of South Africa's best. 

Sbonela Eric Khwela

17 - Sbonela Eric Khwela: He is a exceptional river paddle and know to the Ocean Heroes as the Dusi legend. This man is tough as steel and has shown he can compete with the best Ocean Heroes in challenging conditions. We look forward to his next race and know he can be a top 10 contender.
