Confirm Participation from 5:30am to 6:30am at Durban Surf Lifesaving Club

8am for all races at Dairy Beach

 

Ocean Heroes - Surf Swim - Individual

Swim:             Dairy Beach to South Beach Lifeguard Tower and return

Ocean Heroes - Teams Race

Swim:             Dairy Beach to South Beach Lifeguard Tower and return

Ski:                 Dairy Beach to Harbour Wall and return

Run:               Dairy Beach to Harbour Wall and return

 

Ocean Heroes Gold - Individual

Swim:             Dairy Beach to South Beach Lifeguard Tower and return

Ski:                 Dairy Beach to Harbour Wall and return

Run:               Dairy Beach to Harbour Wall and return

Board:            Dairy Beach to Marine SLSC and return

Official Race Course Format:

 

 

 

Event Rules:

• Ocean Heroes Surf Swimmers can’t compete in teams race.

• Teams race: the ski paddler can use a long distance ski (or spec ski) – use the fastest ski possible (safety protocol will be advised closer to time)

• Gold: For the ski leg, paddler must use surf lifesaving spec ski and Malibu spec board (safety protocol will be advised closer to time)

• For the run leg of all races, athletes must use running shoes and run on the promenade (obviously at the end of the race athletes will finish on the beach)

• Should a participant pull out of the event please notify a race official or management immediately.

• No running underneath the pier

 

Swimwear:
Try not wear branded club swimwear (not a rule)

Ladies: The top ranked ladies and men from previous years, may be provided with Ocean Heroes racing vests for the Gold.

 

Secure Transition Area for run leg

On the promenade in front of New Pier

The transition area will be open for athletes to leave their running gear (shoes etc)

Prizes:

There will be prizes for junior and senior categories. So ensure your teams are created based on either junior or senior age group. In addition, there will be lucky draw prizes.
